PLUNKET WORK

EASTERN BAY AREAS It is interesting to note the work of the Whakatane centre as administrated by the local branch of the N.Z. Plunket Society. Reports from Taneatua, 1-Jangitaiki and Opotiki give some indication of the widespread nature of the work. The reports from each district were submitted to and adopted by the annual meeting of the local branch recently. Taneatua Sub-branch President: Mrs F. C. Yeoman. Vice-president: Mrs J. Butler. President's Report 'We have had quite a successful year subscriptions being almost up to last year and the contents of the Plnntkct Box the highest to date. We have not. had any special, ef-' forts as we had sufficient funds to carry us through. I desire to heartily thank the members of the committee for their interest and their willing help during the year. A credit balance of £4 8s Gd is sli own. President's Report With pleasure I beg to submit the sth annual report of the Rangitaiki Sub-branch Plunket Society for the year ending March :»1, 1943. I would like to thank my committee. for their help and. co-opera-tion, also Mr Blair, the llon-Audi-tor, the Plunket Nurse and all the mothers. We- held a very successful function to raise funds during the year, a Children's Fancy Dress Party and I would lilke to give .special thanks to Mrs Patience, her pupils and. Miss Plaice and all those who helped to make the afternoon a success. There were three committee meetings held and owing to the. satisfactory financial position we had a comparatively easy year and 1 wish every success to the incoming committee. President's Report I have much pleasure in presenting my report for the year ended March 31, 1943. We started with a balance of. £74 <)s and ended witli £7(> 4s which I consider very satisfactory. We had two functions, a Stall and Street Collection combined, realising £31 (is 9d. Our annual party was very disappointing re the mothers not giving their co-operation, nevertheless we raised £10 9s 3d. During the year four members, of the committee visited Waimana establishing a Plunket Committee. We were more, than surprised at the enthusiasm and have received a donation of £12 towards benzine expenses. We decided to take over the tenancy of the Rest Rooms for three months offering 10/- weekly —the. revenue being £2(5 17s l()d. 1 would like to express my thanks to all those wiio have given their services, especially Mrs. Gordon, Miss Gordon, Mrs Burgess, and Mrs Birch. These, ladies are not members of our committee and have been most loyal. Two members of the committee Mrs East and Mrs Qir.r'k I would like to thank for their donations. Mrs East donated £5 towards the test feeding scales which were badly needed and Mrs. Quirk's donation was £3 <Ss 1 Ul. Mrs Starky made frequent donations during the year. We are very thankful to these epople. In conclusion I thank my committee especially Miss Hartshorne for her very efficient work and Mrs Cave for lier loyal support.
