Long Life of Razor Blade

In these days of shortages of razor blades the device of keeping them sharp on a concave glass surface is probably not as widely known as it should be. 'Professor C. W\ Valentine, of Birmingham University, recently placcd on record the fact that he had used the same' blade satisfactorily for over 14 months by sharpening it eacih morning on a glass hone. The hone is a block of glass with a concave surface, but a smooth thick tumbler can be. made to serve the purpose. The pressure should be firm with a semi-circular movement and the surface should be rinsed, to remove an}" roughness. A little soapy water assists lubrication.
