DIRECTOR-GENERAL'S VISIT Members of the Voluntary Aid Detachment, and indeed all those interested in Red Cross work will iincl interest in the visit of Miss Crooketo Whakatane on Friday and Saturday next the. 20th and 21st August. As time will not permit Miss Crooke to visit all the sub-centres'; it has been arranged that Miss Crooke will attend a meeting and social afternoon to be held in Bell's Hallt, Edgecumbe, on Friday afternoon next at 1.30 p.m. It is hoped that a good attendance of Red Cross members will be- at this function. It has been arranged that Red Cross enthusiastists l'rom Matata, Tc Te'ko and Awakeri will attend this meeting. On SaturciaS' morning Miss Crooika will meet the members of the Eastern Ray of Plenty Executive Committee,, and. in the afternoon there* - is to be a parade .of Voluntary Aids before. Miss Crooke at the King. Street Hall at 2 p.m. She* will address the meeting and after-noon-tea will be. served. Miss Crooke is not only Director-General of 'the A.V.s but is also on the Executive Committee of the Junior Red Cross and a member of the Dominion Council: of the. Red Cross Society, so. it will be realised that she will have a wide knowledge of lied Cross affairs, and in addition she has speaking ability and a charming manner. . It is hoped therefore that, not only V.A.S but the Junior Red Cross, and all those who take an interest m the magnificent work of the Red Cross will attend.
