SUGGESTED RESTORATION

HYDRO-GENERATING PLANT EXG INKER'S SCHEME Writing the Borough Council last week the firms, of Messrs Mandeno Lee and Brown suggested the possible restoration of the Whakatane Borough hydro-electric generating plant as a potential source of revenue in the face of the present country-wide shortage. The letter stated that it was the considered opinion of experts that it would take the P.W.D. something over 5 years to overtake the present shortage and that as the council still held the license, it might be a favourable, opportunity to reestablish it and generate power to offset, the discrepency now obtaining. The council in view of the financial outlay and other details decided merely receive the letter.
