». • Word lias been received by his parents that Pte R. G. Mikkelsen (Provos;t Corps) has met his death ;n a motor .cycle accident, in the. Middle East. Pte MJk'kelscn who was twenty-two years of. age was born at Manawahe and educated at Thornton. He was a particularly popular young man and spent a good deal of his time in sport generally. A good rifle shot he was known for his marksmanship throughout the district. Be joined the staff of Messrs Armstrong as a mechanic and entered tAmip in the latter part of 1941. He left New Zealand in May of the present year and had not been in Egypt long before the accident which cost him his life occurred. The deepest sympathy will be extended to his family in their loss.
