Transport Control Committees
Transport control committees set up by the Department were carrying on in liis electorate, and the* secretaries Avere receiving no recompense for the use of their offices:, or for out. of pocket expenses, complained Mr W. Sullivan, M.P. for Bay of Plenty,, in the House of Representatives last week. He added that unless some arrangements were made to remedy that s'tate of affairs, there was a probability that these committees would cease to function. Another matter the Minister of Transport should inquire into was the necessity for providing, spare parts for vehicles which were becoming worn out. Some local bodies had to maintain between 400 and 500 miles of road in g, and the deteriorating of their vehicles was very heavy.
