BOUQUETS and compliments

Enthusiastic applause was. accorded to the Spitfire Revue company on Tuesday night when it presented again an excellent performance to a crowded "house" at Edgacumbe. At the close of the final scene,'bouquets and floral tributes were passed up to all .members of the cast. Mr D. Radeliffe, president of the Edgecumbe Patriotic Committee, made a speech of thanks to Mrs Bristow and Mrs Blair to whom the major part of the. work has fallen. Beautiful bouquets and, sprays made by Mrs A. C. Martin of Awakeri, were presented to both ladies. On behalf of the cast, a was made to Mrs Bristow. of a beautiful gold and paua shell necklace and ring, in gratitude for her untiring work in training them. Thaniks were also expressed to the electricians and stage hands who had given of their best. Mr Radeliffe called for musical honours, and the audience rose in a body and sang "They Are Jolly Good Fellows" followed by rousing cheers. "A splendid show" was the oftrepeated remark as the crowd left the hall and it is felt thai: Mrs Bristol's Spitfire. Revue has set a new standard in entertainment which will be difficult to surpass.. . The cast were entertained nt supper by the Patriotic Committee and toasts were honoured as follows: — "The Producer and Accompanist,," "The Electricians," "The. Stage Hands," "Maori friends in the Cast" and a special kindly toast was drunk to Mr L. Perkins who was prevented by illness from appearing in the show.
