NEW SIDING AUTHORISED

RELIEVING CONGESTION

The Minister of Railways has notified VMr W. Sullivan, M.P., that steps will be taken shortly to construct a new siding at Edgeeumbe. The communication reads:— The Railways Department reports that there has been a steady increase in the traffic dealt Avith at Edgeeumbe Railway Station, and that in order to relieve the congestion and facilitate shunting moA-e----ments. the. carrying out of certain improA r ements has become an urgent necessity. Approval Avas therefore given some time ago for the construction of an additional local loading siding and the extension ol the present crossing loop Avhich has proAed too small to deal Avith. the trains, now operated on this particular section of the line.
