LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS
WHAKATANE SOCIAL & DANCE A meeting 61' the Whakatane Welcome Home Committee took place in the Borough Council Chambers iast Monday evening., Mrs W. Sullivan presiding'. It was unanimously decided to promote a special social and dance in the Winter Show Hall on Wed-, nesday, July 28, for the purpose of entertaining men now on furlough from the Middle East and all others repatriated from the active service spheres. Complimentary tickets will be sent to all men coming under this heading. Mr Rex Morpeth, the secretary, will therefore be pleased to have the names of as many men as possible from both Borough and district, as it will be the earnest endeavour of the committee to omit no one. The proceeds of the evening if any will be devoted to the Red Cross funds. Details of the supper arrangements,. advertising,, decorations, officers and general were finalised and an executive of Mrs E. Armstrong, Mrs G. Otley, Mrs J. Delves and the secretary was set. up with power to act.
