Tenant was a "Shark"
The rapacity of landlords is often quoted, but here is the case of a tenant who rented a house for 355, in which, on account of war conditions, he had three spare rooms. The landlord wanted possession of the house, but he could not find ; another house for his tenant. He offered, however, to rent the. three spare rooms from his tenant, and when he tried to make arrangements with him the tenant said that as rents were high now and houses scarce, lie, the landlord, could have the rooms for 355, which meant that the tenant would be living rent free. The owner refused.—Auckland Star.
