A STABLE ADDITION Trainer N. J. Carroll, Avill soon have quite a big team in commission at Te Rapa. He has-just taken in hand the Mr Standfast—Porennes representative. Ever True. A TOTAL OF £55,000 The, £30,,000 invested last week in the Liberty by the Auckland Racing Club makes a total pf £55,000 contributed by that institution, £10,000 of which has beeix lent free of interest. GETTING READY Route March, one of Auckland's most brilliant sprinters, is again in work at Takanini, after a lengthy spell on account of respiratory trouble. He should be ready for early spring racing. A SMART JUVENILE Trainer J. H. Wallace lias just added to his team at Takanini a rising two year old filly by Dink— Tip Toes, owned by Mr H. N. Harrison of Audkland. As she is by no means overgrown ,she may come to hand early. Her previous best Avinner Avas Golden Miller ay ho Avpn the Grand National Steeplechase in her colours. AGAIN SPELLING Mr T. H. Lowry's Bulandshar representative, Lambourn, has again been turned out for a spell as he is not at his best in heavy going He. Avill probably be re-commissioned in August and be prepared for the New Zealand Cup contest. MATAMATA REPRESENTATION The Matamata trainer, George Cobb, intends taking Kaspian and Sir Standfast to the Grand National meeting at Riccarton. Both are esp pecially forward, in respect to racing condition, and the trip may be a payable one. A MODEL OF CONSISTENCY When Noko Avon the Manawatu Steeplechase it Avas his fourth successive Avin over cross country this season. THE SPORTING SPIRIT • ! The Waikato Racing Club has decided, to invest £1000 in the Liberty War Loan. It. would appear, that racing clubs still loom large in support of New Zealand's Avar effort, and it is a noteworthy fact that the agitation of tAVo. years ago for the further restriction of the sport has "died doAvn." THE FIFTH OBSTACLE In tlje running of the. ManaAvatu Steeples The Cardinal tipped out at the fifth jump, up to Avhich time he had been galloping and jumping in good style. With 9.6 in the Wellington Steeplechase his chance is being fancied and in all probability he Avill handle the going better than some of his opponents. A TEAM OF THREE The Matamata trainer,, R. H. Martin, Avill take three horses to compete. at the Wellington meeting this week, including Radiant Bay, Frustration and Esquire. In July of each year the Trentham track is the most difficult in the Dominion to traverse, but Martin has scored AAins there in recent years, and knows fully Avell which of his numerous team should have the ability to toii through the puggy clay.
