RESOLUTION BY FARMERS
The following Kaipara remit was discussed in committee and carried: (a) "That this conference recommends Dominion Conference to support the plan of holding Avages, costs and prices as a practical contribution toAvards arresting inflation and ensuring that any sacrifices inA r olA'ed avill be spread evenly over the community as a Avhole. Iln view of the fact that the dairy farmers' position is relatively Avorse than it Avas Avhen the price Avas fixed at Ist August 1938, the application of the Government's plan Avould not be equitable and could not be accepted. by the industry unless, Avhile the present pricc is maintained, the GoA'ernmcnt agrees, to a reduction to operate as from the beginning of the 1943-44 season, in the. costs of dairy farm and dairy factory requisites and farm rates, so that, as far as practicable, those may be adjusted to 1938 leA r cl; further, that the GoA r ernment should agree to a committee from the. industry being associated Avith its stabilisation organisation for the purpose, of giA~ing effect to the proposal.'' (1)) "That conference endorses the principle of stabilisation as applied to wool, subject to the. following (prior) adjustment: That the basic rate of 12.23 d per lb plus 15 per cent sterling, be applied to the total AA'OOI production of New Zealand.
