RUGBY FOOTBALL

RIVAL SCOUT TEAMS

WIN FOR SCOTS

The main feature <>!' the Scottish Scouts versus Citizens Scouts malcii on Saturday was the .somewhat unexpected total victory of the fornur over tiic latter. The weather cleared lor the match and the ground was in fair condition. J.t was a good open contest but both teams appeared, to rely to a large extent on one or two of tha heavier members ol' their respective sides. The teams took the. lield at 12 p.m. the Scots with the wind and sun both In their favour. Goodaii who played on the Citizen's wing showed up prominently at the start of the game by running practically the full length of the lield, jinking his way past, the opposing backs and scoring a try in the first three minutes of play. However, a lew minutes, later tlie score was equalised when Law, playing on the Scots right wing, succeeded in. scoring after a clear run down the field lrom half way. Twenty minutes later Scots were enabled to score again through a movement initiated, by Howat and continued by Law. Five minutes later Law scored again alter picking up a long kick out to wing from Torrie, dodging round the backs and carrying the ball forward over the line. At half time with the score at 12-:j, Scotshad a good hold on the game, and practically clinched matters whcj» Law scored again shortly after. Most of the Citizens work appealed to be done by the forwards, while the Scots, opposed to a superior a t round pack, had to rely principally upon their backs,, who, altltough quite a good individual line, did net co-operate properly. Consequently they lost several probable tries through erratic passing and mishandling of the ball. Following were the results: Scottish Scouts 18 (tries by -Law, Torrio and McDonald); Citizens Scouts fj (tries by Good.all and Crozier).
