Farewell Dance at Te Teko Attention is drawn to the dance at Te Teko on Wednesday when no less than nine local men will be the guests of the evening. Shortest Day Past , The shortest day June 21st. occurred yesterday. According to accepted tradition, observers should, note hereafter a gradual lengthening out of the evenings. Though the theory semis good, with wintry months iihead a good many still ha' their '.loots! Fully Employed The report on the appeal for D. M. Martin, employee of the Whalcatane Paper Mills, which appeared, in Friday's issue indicated that the reservist was only part-time employed by the company. The part-time however related to the work of rewinding only, ux)on which reservist is employed. A Hardworking Secretary , After four years: as secretary, to the Whakatane Bowling Club Mr H. L. Drube resigned at the annual meeting last Saturday. Mr Drube who received the heartiest thanks from the' meeting for his services, is one who definitely fostered the game for the game's sake, and the Beacon joins in paying tribute, to his work.
