SCOUT FAREWELL
TROOP LEADER J. B. D. RIVETT
AIR FORGE VOLUNTEER
Scouts, from both local, troops, wolf, cubs and a number of parents attended a ■special gathering in .the Parish Hall last Monday evening for the purpose ot' extending their good wishes to Troop Leader J. B. D. Rivctt, who after seven years association with the movement locally" is severing his connection in order to join up with the Royal New Zealand Air Force. 'Jim' as he is popularly known, recently distinguished himself by achieving to his 'King Scout' badge. He has always taken a prominent part in the movement and there could be no shadow of doubt as to the high regard ia which he is field by his scout colleagues. , The evening passed happily ia games and competitions under the control of Scoutmaster G. V. Thomas. The guests of the occasion were of course the Scottish troop members who entered thoroughly into the spirit of the gathering. Prior to a light, supper the. chairman of the Citizens Committee. Mr C. Kingsley-Smitli, in presenting Troop Leader Rivctt with a gold signet ring on behalf of the troops and the committee wished, him good luck and 'happy landings,' expressing the. hope that he would continue to maintain his interest in. Scouting in spite of his new activity in the Air Force.
