PUBLIC NOTICES * BAY OF PLENTY ELECTRIC POWER BOARD NOTICE TO ALL CONSUMERS [ i RATIONING OF ELECTRICITY The Board appeals to all consumers to economise in the use of electricity, and rigidly conform to the. conditions of THE ELECTRICITY CONTROL ORDER 1943 which came into force on May 27th. 1943, and extracts of which are set out hereunder:— Part ll.—Space-Heating 5. This Part of this Order shall apply to all premises of any of the following classes:— (a) Shops, offices, factories, ware- • houses, and. other business premises: t (b) Public and private hotels: (c) Halls, theatres,, and other i places of amusement: (d) Premises occupied by any of His Majesty's naval, military, or air forces, or by any other armed force i that is. for the time being lawfully present, in New Zealand: (e) Premises occupied by any Government Department or office: Provided that this Part of this Order shall not apply to any hosf< pital. 6. During the months of May, June, July, Augtist and September in any year no person shall, in any premises to which this Part of this Order applies, use or cause to be used any electric radiator or other , electric space-heating appliance or equipment at any time between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on any day of the week except Sunday. Part lll.—Lighting 7. (1) Except as provided in this clause, no person shall at any' time of the day or night use or cause :o be used electricity from any supply of electricity to operate any appliance or equipment for — (a) Exterior sign lighting: L (b) Interior sign lighting other ■ than utility sign lighting: (c) Interior or exterior outline or ornamental lighting: (d) Floodlighting any exterior part of any building: (e) Under-verandah lighting other than community lighting: (f) Community lighting, except on the statutory late night during the period between half an hour after sunset, and 9 p.m.: ; (g) Shop-window lighting either in excess of an average of 10 watti for each foot of window frontage or outside the period between hall an hour after sunset and 9 p.m. on , any day: (h) The interior lighting of is. land or wall or counter showcases; (i) The interior lighting of any theatre, concert-hall, dance-hall, cabaret, skating-rink, public or private hotel lounge, or hotel bar in excess of 60 watts for each 100 square feel of floor space area in any case where the lighting appliance or equipment was in operation before the 1 commencement of this Order, or in excess of 40 watts for each 100 square feet of floor area in any other case. (j) The interior lighting of any [ shop, milk-bar, restaurant, or dining room in excess ol 10i) watts'for each 100 square feet of. floor area. (2) Nothing in subclause (1) of this clause shall apply to the use of electricity for— (a) The provision of such lighting as may be required for safety at any entrance or exit to any premises: (b) Under-verandah lighting (other than sign lighting) at theatres, concert-halls, dance-halls, or cabarets during the hours of darkness for the period of thirty minutes immediately before and the period of fifteen minutes after any programme of entertainment. > DAIRY FARMERS!
