CATTLE DOG TRIALS
SUCCESSFUL TE TEKO MEETING
KEEN PUBLIC INTEREST
On the 26th May the Te Teko Cattic Dog Trial Club held its 24th annual meeting which proved to be ai very successful day. In spite of the boisterous southerly and unpleasant weather conditions; the public attendance was very good. An apology for absence was received from the Ration, Mr F. Doitlge, M.P., who donated a cup for competition a further apology was also received from Mr J. Delves, President of the Whakatane R.S.A.
In the dog events the. standard of work although not quite as high as the last two years was good, the; placed dogs being separated by a narrow margin of points. For the second year in succession Mr E. R. Hunt was a very successful competitor and won two cups outright and, the club's congratulations go to him. In the horse, events entries were better than last year and the spectators were thrilled with many exciting finishes. The usual dance was held in the evening, run under the auspices, of the Te Teko Women's. Division and also proved very successful. The? packed hall danced to the music of the Gaiety Boys orchestra until the early hours of the morning. During an interval Mr C. F. Eivers, the club president, took the opportunity of congratulating the winners of various events and thanked ail those responsible for making the meeting such a succcss. ihe. judge oi the dog events was Mr C. McKenzie of Awalccri who for a number of years past has been of valuable assistance to the club. The horse events were judged by Mr R. Brown of Te Puke. Results were as follows:— y Dog Events i Mr E. R. Hunt's 'Sharp' 52 points 1; Mr C. F. Eiver's. 'Roy ? 51 pts 2r, Mr T. Garlick's 'Pat' 50pts 3; Mr E. R. Hunt's 'Meg' and. Mr H. Sisani's "Lad' tied, 49pts. 4.' !
