PLAYING WITH A PYTHON
A MILITARY CAPTAIN IN NEW GUINEA WRITES TO HIS MOTHER
"li had an interesting experience the other night. I was sitting at a conference, of some of our officers, when the C.O. looked hard at me, and asked me to get up quietly and walk straight towards him. Everybody was looking my way openmouthed—and not knowing what it was all about, I stood up and walked. I then found that a small python, s!<x feet in length, had. crawled into the office, up my chair, and was curled around the top back rest of my scat, undecided as to which of my .shoulders to crawl over. They now tell the story, saying that the snake, would ,stick its head next to one ear, and then dodge around to the other. Of course, I didn't mind playing with him, but snakes shouldn't do such things behind my back!''
