Jersey Week in the Auckland province drew leading breeders from every part of the Dominion, and Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales were also represented. Many sightseers were

also attracted by the fact, that the offering of the famous O.K. Stud was a world's record one in numbers. That the "quality was also of

the highest was indicated by the fact that the herd of 4.35 head realised a total of £24,350, also a

world's record for a Jersey sale

It is also a record for the Dominion for any auction sale of.stud stock. During the series of four sales, GOG head were, sold lor £35,630, an average of nearly 50 guineas per head, an extraordinary tribute to the popularity of the Jersey breed. More than GO lots realised three figure prices. The famous O.K. sire, Lobelia Palatine. Sultan, imported from U.S.xV. and now six years past, realised 1000 guineas. He was bought by Mr C. J. Lovegrove, of Otahuhu, Auckland, after a keen contest, with Dr. G. Walker, of Whangarei. The

younger imported sire, Franchise White Aim, made 4GO guineas, going to Messrs Boon and Berg, Whakatane. Two three year old daughters of "Sultan" made the top pricps among the females, O.K. Pal's Char, mine selling to Mrs E'. J. Coriett, of Inglewood, at 440 guineas, and O.K. Bright Smile at 400 guineas to Mr Trilby King New Plymouth, thus both went to Taranaki. Another daughter, O.K. Palatine; Dot made 300 guineas to Wright, Stephenson and Co., as agents, Mr J. Pullar, of Winton, Southland, secured another, O.K. Pal's Lady, at 210 guineas, and M* Truby King secured O.K. Miss May Dew at 220 guineas. Messrs Carroll 8r05.., of Sliverdale, also paid 200 guineas for O.K. Flush Trump, a seven year old daughter of O.K. Dignity. On the second day when the young stock were sold bidding continued at a high level, Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. paying 300 guineas for O.K. Franchise Patsy, an 18 months old heifer by Franchise White Aim, and Mr Truby King,2oo guineas for" O.K. Palatine Fernettc, a 21 months old heifer by Lobelia Palatine Sultan. Heifer calves were also keenly competed for, O.K. Palatine Fortune, a 7 months old daughter of "Sultan" making 130 guineas, and others also realised, three figures. No less than 10 bull calves made similar prices, but this time it Avas a son of Franchise AVhite Aim in O.K. Franchise Noble, 8 months old, that topped the line at 210 guineas. Six lots went to Australian breeders. The rate of selling surprised many of the visitors as. approximately 200 lots Avere sold in less than live hours the. first day and 235 lots in, 5 1 * hours the second daj>v but the Avhole sale arrangements had been brilliantly planned and everything Avent Avithout a liit.cli of any kind. At the conclusion of this great dispersal, hearty rounds of cheers Avere given for the A'eteran owner and breeder, Mr A. E. Watkin, Avho is retiring at the age of 75t years. The; auctioneers, Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd., continued the series on the following days when they dispersed Mr W. S. McKwen's "Craigknoll" stud at Cambridge, and Mir J. Bones "Greencroft" Stud at Ohaupo. At. the former sale 12 lots made three figure Prices. The young imported bull, Franchise Pioneer, 3% years, topped the sale at. 500 guineas, going to the Ta»-ungki breeder, Mr E. J. Clougli, of Inglewood. Top price amongst, the females was 300 guineas for a two year old grand-daugh-ter of the imported bull, Susie's Oxford Design. This heifer, Craigknoll Sparkler, bought by Mr W. J. Chynoweth, of "Walton, is a prominent candidate for the first Waikato Oaks. At this sale 120' of all agjtts realised , £531G, an aA'erage of 40 guineas per head. Top price for females at the (Jreencroft sale was' also 300 guineas,.'paid by Mr Ward, law, of Waimana, Bay of Plenty, for Greencroft Little Lady, 7(>7lbs fat under Group Herd Test, and a nine year old grand-daughter of the famous cow, Cousin Grace, !)351bs \>f fat. at 3 years, under C.O.R. Another grand-daughter of this cow in Green croft Gracie, 7 years, Avith •i Group Herd Test record of 7231bs fat. Avent to Mrs J. Larsen, ,of Cheltenham. at 230 guineas.
