HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEETING

MUSTER AT TANEATUA

A most enjoyable afternoon Avas spent by members and guests when the Taneatua branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union celebrated their birthday. The celebrations took place out of doors where brilliant sunshine made conditions Aery pleasant. A. bring and buy stall did brisk business and the A'arious games provided were well patronised. A delicious afternon tea was proV vided and. served by members, after which Mrs Prince (president) Avelcomed the guests and asked Mrs Hill (past ' ;ircsid«int) to light the candles and cut the birthday cake, Avhich had been made and decorated, by Mrs Peebles. Mrs Gardiner returned thanks on behalf of those Institute members Avlio were present.. Competitions Avere Avon as follows: Crazy croquet, won by Mrs Peebles: Ladder croquet, Mrs Jennings; Clock golf, Mrs Merrie. Flower competitions: Best single flower, Mrs Marsden 1; Mrs Bennett 2; Mrs Grey 3. Double flower, Mrs Grey 1; Mrs Bennett 2; Mrs Hill 3. Best shrub, Mrs Hill 1; Mrs Grey 2; Mrs Marsden 3. GATHERING AT TE TEKO The Te Teko branch of the Women's DiAision of the Farmers' Union held their monthly meeting on May 11, one member arriving in a gig. Mrs GoodAvin presided OA r er a good attendance, and the meeting opened Avith a reading of the Creed afer Avhich general business was discussed. It Avas agreed to carry on Avith the pie lunch and dance supper in relation to the Dog Trials, Avith plenty of willing helpers volunteering. A vote Avas passed cancelling the meeting in June, as Mrs Johnson of the Adult Education Association Avill be holding four Aveekly meetings that month beginning of June 18. Members Avere A'cry interested in, a Nazi' Hag, brought along by Mrs Footc, sent her by her son overseas. The rich colouring and quality of the material Avas surprising.

The competitions for the afternoon were won 'as follows: A jar of preserves, Mrs Finlayson 1; Mrs Symons 2. Best flower, Mrs Linsell I; Mrs Jamieson 2. Next month's competition to be an article from a sugar bag.

After partaking of a dainty afternoon tea served 'by Mrs Foote and Mrs Jamicson, Mrs Goodwin then announced the meeting closed.
