WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT EDGECUMBE

The monthly meeting oi' Edgecumbe Women's Institute was held on Tuesday in the hall, Mrs HocLson presiding over a good attendance of members. The meeting opened with the Ode to Friendship and a short prayer after which members stood lor a minute's silence. -in token of sympathy with a member who has suffered a bereavement.

Business included the consideration oi' correspondence, in connection with the. Dominion conference. Mrs Hodson gave a short home remedies talk on the treatment ol' lumbago. An observation competition was won by Mrs Crang. The. roll cn.II "My First Impression of Edgecumbe", was well answered and some interesting items from the older residents. A talk on Removal of Staims prepared by W.E.A. as a box lecture was read by'MrsSnelling. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Robb, Mrs Roberts and Mrs List hostesses for the day. The competitions were Avon as follows: Bottled tomatoes, Mrs Snolling 1; Mrs List 2; Mrs Moody 3. Knitted socks, Mrs List 1. Best Chrysanthemums, Mrs Snelling l;i Mrs Flavell 2; Mrs Learning 3. Best flower... Mrs Learning 1; Mrs Robb 2; Mrs Snelling 3. A dinner for competition was won. by Master Tliomsen. A pleasant afternoon concluded with the National Anthem.
