The following letter from Major C. J. Holland-Martin, Military Secretary to His Excellency the GoA*er-nor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, has been received by His Worship the Mayor:— Your Worship, I am directed by the Gover-nor-General to write and convey to you' and to those who were associated Avith you an expression of His Excellencies warmest appreciation of the excellent arrangements Avhich were made in connection with the visit of Lady Newall and himself to Whakatane on 6th of May. Their Excellencies are delighted to have had the opportunity of meeting the people of Whakatane and ask me to say that they thoroughly enjoyed their first official visit to your town.
