Acting on the assumption that there; are people in the district who can assist the Company and who are willing to do so, once they are aware of the urgency of the situation; the Board of Directors appeals to any residents of the Rangitaiki Plains, who are in a position to lend, a hand, to come forward and offer their services. The following information is given in an endeavour to make the Dairy Company's position reasonably clear, so that those who are prepared and able' to help, will understand how real is the need for their assistance. (1) The present Butter Factory staff is insufficient for the coming season. (2) A good many of the existing employees are. Grade I single men. The Company has. been compelled to retain the services of men who would prefer to be. in the army. (3) The Armed Forces Appeal Board has repeatedly stated that it will not permit Grade 1 single men to be, retained in any industry whilst married men with children are going into camp, unless the Appeal Board is satisfied that the replacement of these single men is an absolute impossibility. The Directors of the Company are ig. complete accord with this view. (4) Despite, the Dairy Company's urgent appeals, the District Manpower Officer cannot find employees, male or female, married or single.
