RAKANUI REMAINS NORTH The Hawke's Bay owned Rakanui will be raced at the Waikato and Great Northern meetings. EQUALLING THE RECORD By winning a race at. Newmarket last week Gordon Richards equalled Fred Archer's record of 274.9 successful rides. STILL ON DECK A Southern writer notes that Erination was quite the most facile jumper at the Canterbury meeting, but the old stamina was missing. NOKO'S SUCCESSES The. Southland owned steeplechaser, Noko, has won at his three starts over the fences. He will be competing in the North Island next montli. APPEAL DISMISSED Chief Stipendiary C. Comer's appeal against the Auckland Racing Club's vcrdict in respect to the runing of Beau Vaals at EllresUe Was dismissed. A SUCCESSFUL DEBUT N. Crombie, an apprentice in the A. E. Didham stable in Canterbury, made a name for himself at the Beaumont meeting on Easter Monday.' He rode a winner in his, first race in public, and finished up the day by piloting three winners and being placed twicc. A PROMISING NOVICE Fair Trial, a half brother by Soli-citor-General to Wild Career and Secret Flight, won the Trial Handicap at. the Southland meeting in a manner denoting that he may soon get into open company. IMPROVING The' Kincardine gelding,, Banchory, who ran second to Transcend at the Avondale meeting, is a member of M<. B. Abbott's Opotiki team. He is being raced into form and may get on the winning list before long. WILL DO BETTER The. Foxbridge gelding, Exeter, is not the luckiest candidate in the Alex Cook stable, To Awamutu, for lately he has only been able to register placings. He is well forward in respect to racing condition,, and his turn may not be far off. JUMPING AT WANGANUI The. Wanganui Jockey Club generally leads off in the North Island with its steeplechase programme. The stakes allotted to the Wanganui Steeplechase are £400, for the Connolly Handicap £350 and the Century Hurdles and Winter Oaks £300 each. EXIT ENRICH After competing at the Easter meeting of the Wairarapa Racing Club Enrich dropped dead in his stable. As a two and three year old Enrich was a good performer. At a New Zealand Cup mee'ting he had the distinction of winning the Stewards' Handicap on the first day and the New Zealand Derby on the second. The following season he comlost form, probably on ac--1 count of physical unfitness;. DIVISION RACES The New Zealand Owners, Breeders and Trainers Association at a record meeting in Auckland, expressed itself in favour of some extra d.«3 r s of racing, and extra races being permitted in order to reduce the necessity of division races. A I representative was appointed to at-1 tend a meeting of country club delegates, where it is expected suggestions will be forthcoming to be placed before the. racing authorities in July. NOW AT WAIPUKARAU W. H. Jones who in his time, rode a lair share of winners,, and who lately joined the G v H. Greene stable at Hastings, has now started training operations on his own account at Waipukarau. He is starting off with, five horses in the hope that same day his stable may shelter one as good as Rona Bay. GALLOPS WELL WHEN FRESH The winner of the Islington Handicap at Ellerslie, Town Survey, had only been in active, commission a few weeks, consequently his performance was a decidedly creditable one. He should be useful at the
