KILLINGS TO MID-APRIL
.The official figures of killings for the present season at the Dominion's Freezing Works from Ist October to 17th April, as issued by tho New Zealand Meat Producers Board, show that, lamb killings now total 0,1 14,885 carcases, compared with.0,200,850 carcases to 18th April last season, this being a decrease of 115,971. carcases. Wether mutton ' killings ar;> 163,276 carcases, and ewe mutton killings. 1,173,093 carcases, compared with G0G,13-1 and 1,735,125 eases respectively last season. Details of the lamb and mutton killings in the North and South Islands, with figures for the previous season in parentheses, are as follows:— North Island Lamb . 5,208,767 .(5*1.49,704) Wether mutton 427,400 ( 634,218) Ewe mutton 1.070,083 (1,070,110) South Island Lamb 3,936,118 (4,111,155) Wether mutton 35,786 ( 61,916) Ewe mutton 394,010 ( 656,006) Frozen beef production has reached 306,489 quarters compared with, 266,085 quarters last season. Porker killings total 70,232 carcases, a decrease of 72,716, whilst baconers total 82,572 carcases a decrease of 127,211.
