CAUGHT BY TIDE
TWO LOCAL FISHERMEN
UNENVIABLE EXPERIENCE AT
HEADS
Two young men from the town who decided to try their luck with a 'spot' of fislhing from the rocks at the 'Heads' last Sunday evening ended up by being marooned by the tide and having to be rescued from a precarious perch on the cliffs.
The sea was running fairly high antl as the night advanced the men concerned (we will spare them mention of their names) failed to notice that their retreat around the rocks was being slowly cut off. When they sought to return they found it impossible to do so other than by scaling the cliff at the back and returning overland by the bluff. Thpir plight was noted however and several motorists assisted by turning their headlamps on to the rocks to assist a rescue. At midnight Captain Carey, Harbourmaster and a group of residents were able to ■approach the Ine.ll and effect a rescue from their unenviable predicament.
