FORBES AND FERGUSON CUPS WHAKATANE REPRESENTATIVES At Taneatua to-morroAv competitional play for the. Forbes Cup, a trophy donated for competition be-, tween the two Opotiki, the Taneatua and the Whakatane Clubs will take place. The local representatives will "be Burgess, Pearson, Currah and Mclsaac (skip). A. C. King the local champion, will also play in the Champion of Champions contest between the same four clubs, to decide the winner of the Ferguson Cup. It is interesting to note that in the Taneatua tournament last weekend Whakatane walked off with the honours, the winning team being Creeke, Drube, Currah and Mclsaac. TENNIS MATCH WAIMANA v OPOTIKI A most pleasant day was spent on the Waimana courts during the week-end when a match wasi played behveen the. Opotiki and Waimana tennis clubs, the home team winning by 19 matches to 13. Some very evenly contested games were witnessed. At the conclusion of the match, Mr T. Black thanked Waimana for the pleasant day's sport and congratulated them on their win, he also thanked the ladies who had supplied the refreshments. Mr Grov-* er most suitably responded, * three cheers being called for both teams. The following are the results of the matches:— Men's Singles A. Wardlaw beat T. Black 9/1; T. Wardlaw lost to T.
