EARLY THAMES RESIDENT LATE MR H. F. CHRISTIE The death at Wanganui of Dr. H. H. Christie lias revived among th« descendants of old Thomas gokl mining stories told of his father, the late Mr H. F. Christie. One morning he. woke to discover that, the scrip lie had bought was worth £20,000. He immediately sold out and join.-, ed the .sftaff of the" Bank of New Zealand in the early 'seventies. He was manager of the Patca branch for about a quarter of a century, during AVihicU time he visited his native land on different occasions. When he retired he longed to end his flaysi in Scotland, but the climate proved too severe for him. so # he came back and bought a fineproperty on St. John's Hill. Wanganui. where he lived to a rips oi'Jf agCj driving his own motor car he was over 80 years of aj£e.
