APRIL FOOLS DANCE

GAY OTAKIRI NIGHT

BEVY OF DEBUTANTES

Once again Otakiri proved to be most popular for the dancing publie, judging by the large crowd assembled in the last Thursday evening, when the local Patriotic Committee held its April Fools dance. A fine spirit was prevalent the whole evening, and several side lines instituted by members of the com. mittee added to the merriment. Spirited music was supplied by the Gaiety Boys orchestra, Mrs Armstrong playing the extras. Monte Carlo waltzs were Avon by Miss Mikkelsen and partner, also Mr Kedgley and Mrs Mantell. A Lucky Partner Blackout Waltz was won by Mr Dunning and Miss Lord, the debutantes in this dance were rather outstanding for their delightful frocks.- They were as follows: Miiss White chose a flora frock; Miss Missen, red georgette with gold trimming; Miss; Kedglej-, in an unusual striped jumper with beautiful fitting skirt; Miss Cristall, in an attractive black and white frock which suited her tall graceful figure admirably. Miss Mackercll was beautifully gowned in an unusual frock, which also testified to good taste; and Miss Lord was wearing a purple georgette with wide corsage, which suited this attractive brunette to perfection. The winner of the el-ectric reading lamp donated, by Mr Mackercll, was Miss E. Sisam, and a tastefully iced cake donated by Mrs King was won by Miss Mullins. A delicious supper was served by the ladies of the Entertainment Commitee. In the wee sma' hours as the strains of the National Aiv them died away a tired but happy crowd wended their way homeward in search of other April Fools and resolving to return to Otakiri for the Easter Monday dance.
