Sir,—Recently the directors of the Rangitaiki Dairy Factory had the unpleasant task of informing suppliers not on the main road that they would have to cart out their own cream on to a main road.—daily —to " conserve benzine and tyres. A week or so later eight or nine extra service cars "were seen run-> ning on the Whakatane-Rotorua. main road en route to Rotorua, conveying people for pleasure. An extra 1000 to 2000 miles must have bem *. covered from the East Coast alone! How much more must have been . covered from other points?
