THE "GOOD ENDEAVOUR" LEAGUE FOR YOUNG READERS ONLY Aboard for the Goodwill Cruise

What lio, what ho, ma hearties. Shiver my timbers if it isn't going to rain at long last.'You % used to stand on the top of the Whale Avatcliing the horizon for any sign of a change in the Aveather and at last I began to think we were in for a real drought. Well at any rate: here it is; and I think its going to be a good. downpour. The farmers will be glad in any case. Now AAiiat I wanted to tell you about was a strange experience I had last Tuesday evening. When strolling along the beach I saAV an old bottle bobbing up and down on the waves, and became so interested that I waded out and captured it. Noav the strange tiling about this bottle was that though it had a fairly good cork in it, it was about half full of water and strangest of all, was that were inside, all fat and round and struggling very vigorously was a young lobster who was quite unable to get out the neclc of the bottle, which had to be broken ; to free him. Now Avliat puzzles rue is how on earth the fish came to be inside, the bottle which Avas floating with its neck up and as I have said was corked. I know there Avas a small opening in the cork; which allowed, a little water to> get in bu,t even if the lobster sAvani in Avhen only a tiny fellow, Avhat did he; live on to grow so fat inside the bottle. Well its still a mystery to me fov the. fish Avas about 5 inclics long and AA T ith a nice big body. Perhaps the bottle had a lot of food in it when the fish went in. At any rafy; I've given up wondering and all I know is that Avhen I broke the bottle open he. made a nice tasty meal for me at tcatimc. Yours till next week P.T.W.
