PATRIOTIC DANCE

GATHERING AT AWAKERI DISTRICT SOLDIER HONOURED A very successful dance was held in - the Awakeri Hall on the 23rd March, there being, as usual, a good attendance. Bright music was supj» plied by the Rhythm Aces while |Mr C. Mac Donald acted as M.C. Mr T. Fowell kindly assisted by playing extras. Supper arrangements were in the. hands of the Ladiesf Patriotic Committee who carried out their duties to the. satisfaction of all. Thanks are due to Messrs J. Baty and A. Baldock who acted as doorkeepers. Opportunity was taken to bid an re voir to Private Don Baty who was the guest of. the evening. In handing to him a money belt and a wak let as but a small token of the district's esteem, Mr T. F. Kerr thank*? Ed him for the service he was rendering and wished him the best of good fortune wherever he might go. Private Baty was roundly applauded upon replying. A pleasing feature of the evening was a very representative attendance of members of the forces, these being welcomed by Mr Kerr "who also took the opportunity of thanking all who had, by their continued attendance at past of the Patriotic Committee, helped along the efforts of that body. A cake kindly donated by Mrs A. Martin was raffled during the evening, a popular win going to Miss Mildred Baty, holder of number 18.
