AUCKLAND CONFERENCES

A further report regarding the periodical conference between members of the Auckland Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union and representatives of the Federation of Labour was made by the President of the lirst-'namcd body (Captain H. M. Rushworth) at its monthly meeting on March 17. The following resolutions had been agreed to unanimously at the conference: — "We are in favour of the principle of stabilisation, but consider that the previous, attempts and failures at stabilisation should point to the provision of qualities in both goods and services. The effects of taxa,tion on prices should also be included in the order of reference. Above all, the growing distress of those least able to bear further burdens should be provided for." "That the rationing scheme be applied to all consumable commodities. in short supply in order to ensure an equal opportunity to everyone." The resolutions were agreed to by the executive, and it was resolved to forward them to the Dominion Conference.
