GARDENING CIRCLE ANNUAL MEETING The monthly meeting of the Wai» mana-Nukuhou Women's Institute gardening circle was: held at the home of Mrs Cooper, Waimana. There was a good attendance of members, who were presided over by Mrs John Addison. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Mrs Ma union who also presented the annual report,, which was adopted. The election of president and secretary resulted in Mrs Addison reelected and Mrs Cooper, secretary. The retiring secretary Mrs Mannion, was presented with a small gift by Mrs Addison from tile members, in appreciation of her work and help in the circle, in past years. Mrs Mannion suitably responded, thanking all for the gift. A most interesting reading was given by Mrs Cooper on Winter Decorations and the preservation of Autumn foliage. A competition arranged by Mrs Cooper was won by Miss Hughes 1, and Mrs King 2. The points prizes for the year's competitions were won by the following: General competitions, Mrs Stevenson 1: Mrs J. Mitchell 2; Mrs Hughes 3. Best flower, Mrs Stevenson 1; Mrs Hughes 2; Mrs Mitchell 3. Best vegetable (cup donated by Mrs C. Wylde), Mrs Hughes 1; Mrs Wylde 2; Mrs Woolfield; 3. The day's competitions were as follows: Bowl of mixed flowers for effect. Mrs Cooper 1; Mrs. Woolfield 2; Mrs Stevenson 3. Best llower, Mrs Hughes 1; Mrs Woolfield 2; Miss Hughes 3. Best, vegetable, Mrs Hughes 1; Mrs Mannion 2; Mrs G. Mitchell 3. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Woolfield and Mrs G. Mitchell, and Miss Eileen Addison acted as jjudgc. Mrs Addison thanked the hostess for the pleasant afternoon spent by all.

ST. JOHN'S NURSING DIVISION "WATMAX A BRANCH The fortnightly meeting of the Division was held "in the Waimana Hall last Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Kirk continued the Home Nursing instructions. A written test oil previous lectures was held and bandaging practised. It was decided at the meeting to supply lunch for the Home Guard members on Saturday and a bring and; buy stall to be held. Afternoon tea closed the meeting.
