One was knocked off a punga by a sow but they ar-» rived back safely with four young pigs. Miss Joyce Erskine liasi left on an extended visit to Auckland. The local hall was well filled at a farewell evening to Laurence Kendall. Perhaps it w r as through having J heard of police women that caused a boy to write of a police'mam.' Women's Institute Another successful Institute year was finalised at the annual meeting of the Manawahe Women's Institute. Both the president and secretary's# reports revealed that the Institute a motto for Home and Country had been enthusiastically interpreted while the financial report showed a satisfactory balance. The sident, Mrs Logan, welcomed Mrs ' Withy Y.O. and presided over a good attendance. A display of soldiers' knitting was held, while a Patriotic and Institute sales table were well patronised. A number of letters acknowledging the receipt of Patriotic parcels have been received by the Manawaho Committee and all express the plea- > sure our men experience from this source and amply repay any effortentailed in their compilation.
