PUBLICITY TO SUBSCRIPTIONS
Sir,-— fn its endeavour to raise Patriotic funds, the Mahawahe Pat-> riotic Committee lias seen fit to make up two lists of names, .firstly of those who have complied with the committee's demands and fully contributed, .and secondly those who ( for reasons best known to themselves, have subscribed in a smaller Avay. Obviously in posting these lists up in the public hall it was done in a spirit of ridicule or coercion for tliosei not fully subscribed, it* This action has caused a deal of, re* sentment in the community and "the committee will find that the results will be the reverse to those desired. Would the Whakatane Com- ™ mittee adopt this attitude or would a more enlightened community re-* sent, such petty coercion. After allk the scheme is- voluntary and Manawahe Committee should recogthe fact and not make use of people's names without their permission. Yours etc.,
