BOWLING CLUB'S GAMES WEEK-END CONTESTS The fine weather over the week-, end made the Whakatane Bowling Club's greens at Apanui a popular rendezvous. The following were the results of a number of friendly games played:— Smith, J. Bell, Comer and Hollis 16 v Mollgaard, Shaplcy, E. J. Bell and. Mclsaac 12. Taylor, Head, Pearson and Lux ton 19 v Carling, Oswald,. Drube and Howat 16. Murphy, Darvill, Marsh and LittleJohn 25 v Wilson, Bridger,, Alexander and. Currah 20. Topp, Henderson, Grant and Tippett 16 v L. King, Buckman,, Mc,-* Lean and C'aislcy 11. Martin, Cantrell, Crccke and Chamberlain 24 v Grace, 'Bigelow, McLcod and Sloane 19. Competition Progress The foi l owing indicates the progress of the various competitions which are. being run under the club's aegis, this season: — Championship Singles: King 19; McKenzie 18; Loane 20; Tippett '14. Tliis left. C. Loane 2' lives and. A.i C. King 1 life. This game produced good bowls and resulted in King 21. Loane 10. Loane and King will now have to play off for the final. Junior Championship Singles: This series produced some, really good bowling especially in , the later stages of the tournament. The champion this year, A. Carling, played good bowls throughout and his win was well deserved. Results:— Macintosh 18; Wilson 12,; McKenzie 26; Topp 5; Donaldson 2 lifes 17; Macintosh 18; Carling 18; McKenzie. 12; Carling 15; Donaldson 14. and the final A. Carling 27, K. Macintosh 8.
