AERODROME PROPOSAL

COUNTY COUNCIL MOVES

CALLING COMBINED MEETING

In a letter to the County Council the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce pledged its support to the council's endeavours to obtain an aerodrome for Whakatane. It. was noted that the council had placed the. - construction of an aerodrome first on the list, for attention when rehabilitation matters are discussed. Such matter was considered to be of primary importance, apd the Chamber of Commerce expressed approval of the council's reported proposal to proceed with the project, and offered assistance in anv way possible to attain such objective. It was hoped that the council Avould move the matter of acquiring a suitable, area immediately, and possibly the Local Bodies: interested could represent the importance of the project to the Military Authorities in such a way as to obtain their active co-operation.

• The council decided to take steps to call a meeting with a Borou&h committee on the matter and liavo the whole project fully discussed.
