Social Service Expenditure The attention of readers is drawn to the feature article on page 3 of this issue dealing with the expenditure of Social Security monies. Patriotic Appeal' Publicity Tn an effort to give the new Borough Patriotic Appeal the fullest publicity, six hundred circulars have been sent to residents.. The committee is indebted to those, typistes •who prepared, the lists and also to Mr G. R. Kent and the Postmaster wlfti gave assistance in the mailing. Awakeri Boiling-down Works lui a letter to the Whakatane County Council last Tuesday the Health linspector, Mr P. A. Wallwork reported having visited the boilingdown -works, recently, and found conditions relatively satisfactory. No animals were lying around and a new floor above the digestor had been erected. Unfortunately another accident had occurred and gestor top has been blown off, whi/sh put the works out of operation for a little time, in the meantime, the Stock Inspector had been informed not, to send in any live or dead stock.
