WAR AGAINST RAGWORT

WEED-KILLERS IN DEMAND

A remit from the Waikato Sub. Provincial Executive, on behalf, of the Te Awamutu branch, asking that the Government be. requested to facilitate the importation of specific weed-killers, other than sheepdip, especially those suitable for ragwort, came before the last meeting of the Auckland Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Fanners' Union. Mr A. E. Bryant (Te Awamutu) in introducing the remit, said that if sheep-dip was used extensively as

a weed killer, there would he a shortage for dipping sheep. Mr Hallyburton Johnsjtone (Waikato) said that the. position in his district, in respect to ragwort was becoming worse. There were other weed killers which could be made in the Dominion if the ingredients were, available. The matter was referred to the Dominion Executive.
