GIRLS MUST REGISTER
THE inclusion of the younger age group of girls for drafting into national service, provides yet a further indication of the all-in nature of the country's war effort. When we have to call upon the eighteen year old girls to take their place in industry at the dictates of the State we realise with a certain pained surprise just how deeply we are pledged to this struggle against barbarism. Statements coupled with the most recent announcement, make it clear however that the aim is not to move these younger girls to any great distance from their homes. From this it would seem fair to deduce that the smaller country centres would not be included to the same extent as the larger centres where works of a national importance are being carried out within easy reach of the homes of the average girl likely to be affected.
