" 1 BIG ENTRY LIST According to reports, the nominaions for the Franklin meeting to oe held; at Te Rapa on March 6 are exceptionally large. The secretary, Mr W. J. Short, is in for a busy ;ime:, as several of the events appear as though they will have to be . :livided. ■ ON TOP OF LIST The latest track efforts of Subadar indicate that he will run prominently at Te Rapa on Saturday. The son of Bulandsliar and Rulette is at the top of the handicap; sitill he is a. big solid colt thalt should handle kvcight well. LOOKS THE PART Since racing at the Auckland summer meeting Mr Rosa lias not been asked to do any hard tasks. He is very bright and healthy and has developed into an attractive looking two year old. This juvenile comes from a great family, and it. will surprise if he does, not uphold its reputation. MAKING GOOD HEADWAY Since joining D. J., Arnott's team Ivronos has gone on the right and it will not be long before heis ready to race. Lasft season Kroncs put up several good performances, and he should do even better now that he has a bit of age on his side. This galloper may be seen in action next month. ENGAGED AT TE RAPA After being off the scene since last spring, Taku Kara is due to reappear at the Waikato meeting, where he figures in the Beerescourt Handicap. The instance, one mile, will suit the son of Bambury and Te Ngeru admirably, and if produced in the right condition he will keep the opposition busy. As Taku Kara is a capable galloper under winter conditions, a good future should be in store for him. ROEON INJURED There was an accident during the running of the open sprint at Gisborne on Saturday Roeon and Centennial falling. Roeon injured her head and neck, and the 1 outcome of the damage, is not known at present. It is unlikely that, she will be racing again for a few months., IN GOOD ORDER Although Coroit' was not taken to the Matamata meeting there, is nothing wrong with the brown gelding. The class! Corot has been meeting at Ellerslie has proved a bit beyond him, but lie should be worth following if raced on the country circuit. However, his size will always be against' him when the fields are 1 large, RELATED TO THESPIAN Royal Merit's win in It'he Wynyard Plate at. the Takapuna «Cup meeting put him out of hacks), but he is eligible to run in the Hack Cup at the Waikato meeting this week as entries for that event closed before Royal Merit won tlio Plate. Royal Merit's dam, Itihaca, is by Lysander from Leta, and is thus a three-quarter aist.er to Thespian, one of the best horses raced by Mr G. M. Currie.
