INCIDENT IN HAWKE'S BAY EXCUSE FOR "WOMAN SHOPPER Truth is stranger than fiction. A Central Hawke's Bay retailer relates that a woman, who, to judge from the plentitude of parcels in her basket. was- bent on obtaining the maximum she had to spend, came into the shop and asked if she. could obtain that rarity of rarities, a writing pad. On being told she might have one, she replied: "'Can you let me have three or four before the hoarders get their hands on them!"
