CHANGE OF LOCATION Mrs L. Campbell, of Riccarton, has decided to take up an appointment in Hawke's Bay, where she will train Mrs A. L. Edmunds team. UNLUCKY AT START There was solid backing for Bright Fox in the Ruapchu Handicap, but the prospects of the Foxbridge colt were considerably reduced at the start when he was squeezed out at the jump-off. In the running he was never in a winning position and eventually finished seventh. A GOOD TRIAL The Man's Pal filly, Palorc, ran right, up to the excellent trial she was reported to have run prior to the meeting when she decisively won the Telegraph Handicap from a field of good sprinters. She was always in the, call and at the finish had the race well won. Palora 3s a three j-car old by Man's Pal—Doretta, is owned b}' the Messrs J. R. R. and, and 11. T. Stead, and trained by J. P. Hyan al Hastings. SURPRISE SECOND The sccond placing of the three year old The.olat.cral in the Wellington Stakes was one of the surprises of the racc. There was nothing in the past form of the grey son of Theio to suggest he would defeat the two year olds at we.ight-for-age over a sprint course of five furlongs, but. he downed, all but Sea Spi. M this running reflects the true galloping ability of the two year olds, then they are. far from being a first-class lot.

COSTLY DEFEAT Ihe del eat of Olga's. Pal in the Wellington Stakes was complete and a big disappointment to the many who regarded the Man's Pal gelding as a reasonably good bctt.ing prospect. Mr J. Rudsit's two year old had taken the Foal Stakes at Ellerslie so impressively as to suggest that lie was a youngster above average ability. At Trcntham he was one of the leaders early, but over the concluding stages he failed to carry on and was beaten out of a place. THREE HARD RACES The Te Rapa owned and trained Gay liose.tte had three hard races at the Auckland fixture, and it was no surprise that in the Nathan's Memorial Handicap on the third day she failed to show the dash she displayed in the Auckland Cup and Racing Club Handicap. She will, however, have time to freshen up before the country circuit meetings next, month and then the opposition will know the Whirlwind mare is back to form. A PROMISING JUVENILE Gaymeer, the runner-up in the Sylvia Handicap at Ellerslie, is by Vermeer from the well performed mare Gay Shiela. His finishing run showed that he is gifted with speed, so lie may soon be noted, on the winning list. BLACK RENARDE RETURNS The Auckland owned mare Black Renarde, who lias been racing in Taranaki this season, has been returned to Auckland, and is now being allotted a paddock holiday. A RUNNER-UP Justina's second at Ellerslie in a strong field gives hope that she may yet be a jjayable proposition this season if properly placed. There may be races in the country circuit that should suit her.
