THE POOR Q.M.
HIS HAIR IS TURNING GREY WOMEN JOIN THE ARMY Our Quartermaster's all upset, His hair is: turning grey, For the women have come into camp, Yes. two came in to-day. He'll have to put an indent in, For I 1 believe. they*re here to stay,
And open up another branch To dish out lingerie. He'll want a supjjly of corselettes Of brassieres and silk panties, Of powder pull's and Eau-de-Cologne; Silik stockings and pinj> scanties. Just think of all the tliing-a-me-bobs That the women folk adore, And think of the boj's who'll dish 'em out— What a lovely Q.M. store. There'll be petticoats and stepins, Warm winter woollies too, There'll be old-fashioned stays like
Auntie May's, And nighties pink and blue. The. boys won't know the old Q.M. There'l'l be mirrors here and there, Hosiery fully fashioned And hair nets for the hair. There's no telling where this thing will end, And I ? n venture now to say— That there'll be a laugh when the Q.M. staff Starts issuing lingerie. —J.P., Ngaruawahia, in a Wellington paper.
