CAPTURED MEN
FUNCTION OF BRITISH BOOKS AND GAMES FUND The function of the British Prisoners of War Books and Game* £ und is fully explained in a circular received by Mrs Graham, Hamilton, Red Cross Commandant for the Wai■kato Centre. Books, games, music and musical instruments are sent out to 'the prison camps in Germany. Every camp is supplied, with 1000' books to form the nucleus of a library. When a man's name, is known arid he is registered as a prisoner of war a parcel containing a novel, a Bible, a chess board, a pack of cards' and u printed jjostcard for the prisoner to fill in his reading preferences, etc., is forwarded'. The fund also assists those relatives who have difficulty in sending the quarterly next-of-kin parcels. Mrs Graham reports: that mar-v appreciative, acknowledgments have bee/i received from prisoners of war in connection with the work carried out. Five shillings a month (English currency) permits the adoption of a prisoner and regular parcels Avill be sent to him. The director is MissChristine Knowles, 0.8. E., Carrington House, Hertford Street, W.f.., London. Relatives of prisoners of war would be well advised to take, action in the matter.
