ASSAULT AT WAIOHOU

VICTIM SERIOUSLY HURT

Before Mr J. King, J.P., in the Whakatane Court yesterday morning Jack Ataiti Ramii a ( young Maori living at Waiohou was charged with assaulting and causing bodily harm to Joe Xgahora on January 7 last. Accused was remanded by consent till February 8 next, owing to the serious condition of the victim of his action who is expected to remain in hospital" for six weeks. Ranui who also walked with a limp was allowed bail on £50 on his own account: and £100 the surety of his employer, Mr A. Orr, of Waiohou.
