TE KAHA MAN DECORATED BRILLIANT LEADERSHIP SHOWN The rccent. citations accompanying tlic award of the Distinguished Conduct Medal to Corporal N. Tukaki, of Te Kaha, state that outstanding courage and resourcefulness were shown by Corporal Tukaki in the Maori Battalion attack on the. night of November 1. When his section commander fell Avoundcd, lie took control in an attack on enemy machine gun posts. Annihilating forward elements of the enemy with hand grenades and bayonets, he led his men further to the next line of pits. His. whole section ultimately became, casualties and he then join.ed other members of his company and boldly led them forward again. It was his. courage, determination, and brilliant leadership that, enabled his company to gain its final objective.
