N.Z. PILOT LEADS SMASHING ATTACK
'"Congratulations on Mersa Matruli bag. That ship was most, important," read a message received by an R.A.F. Baltimore squadron from the A.O.C. Air Vice-Marshal Coningham. The leader of the flight of eight Baltimores which made a smashing attack on Mersa Matruh was; Squadron-Leader Lloyd Joll, of Dunedin, who has had three years'' service with the R.A.F. in the Middle East. He has led a number of bombing attacks since the battle began, including a close-support raid against Germans attacking New Zealand forces.
