Still Going Strong
"How old are you?" was a question put by Mr S. L. Wright to a*n appellant representing a countrv auxiliary fire service who supported an appeal for an auxiliary fireman at. a sitting of the No, 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board in Christchurch. "1, am <><)," replied the appellant, to which Mr Wright said: "Sixty-nine, and still fighting fires." "Yes," said the appellant, "L have been a member for :j() years, and most of the other members arc over 50. It is essential for us that, the young men be retained." Th,e appeal was adjourned sine die.
